Global Receipt is an installation that prints real-time data from NASA’s climate observation satellite DSCVR onto receipt paper. Among the collected data, a photograph of the Earth is shared every two hours. These scientific observations are made instantly accessible online for researchers. The installation retrieves this data and prints it in real time, along with the familiar yet piercing sound of a dozen receipt printers.

Behind its complex technical setup, the piece presents a minimalist gesture : printing images of the Earth onto receipt paper. At first sight, the message seems simple, easily understandable within today’s ecological awareness. However, our awareness remains just that, we are looking at ourselves in the mirror. Thus, the climate alterations keep being imprinted on the receipt paper, embodiement of our consumption.
